General

What is DNA Kinesiology?

A holistic practice combining three modalities: kinesiology (the physical body), energy work (the emotional body) and tantric-informed bodywork (the spiritual body). Each stands on its own and supports the others when combined. The practice is led by Phil Duval, a Registered Kinesiologist, with sessions in person in Geelong and district, Victoria, and online worldwide.

What does "DNA" stand for?

Deep Natural Alignment. It reflects the philosophy of the practice: healing works at the deepest level of your body's innate intelligence, much as DNA carries the blueprint of who you are. It's about reaching your body's original design for balance and self-regulation.

Who is Phil Duval?

Phil is a Registered Kinesiologist with over six years of kinesiology practice, holding an International Diploma of Professional Kinesiology Practice (ICPKP) and Kinesiopractic® Level 1, both trained at Kinesiology Connection, over three decades of energy work, including Reiki and intuitively guided energy channelling, and three years specialising in emotional detox through tantric bodywork. Before this he spent 30+ years in aviation engineering. He has worked with energy since childhood and built his practice on the principle that every modality informs the others. Read more about Phil.

Do I need to believe in energy work for it to help?

You don't need to believe in it. Many clients arrive sceptical and treat it as an experiment, then judge by how they feel.

How is this different from other holistic therapies?

This work is guided by your body rather than a fixed protocol. Each session responds to what your nervous system, muscles and energy are communicating in real time. Rather than applying the same technique to everyone, the focus is on listening, correcting and supporting what your body is ready to address. Phil holds the full spectrum, physical, emotional and spiritual, in one integrated practice.

Is this work evidence-informed?

Kinesiology draws on muscle monitoring and principles from Traditional Chinese Medicine. Not every element is recognised by Western medicine, and I'm upfront about that.

02

Kinesiology

About kinesiology
What can kinesiology help with?

Kinesiology is commonly used to support stress regulation, anxiety, fatigue, chronic pain, emotional overwhelm, burnout and a sense of feeling stuck. Sessions focus on how your nervous system and body are responding rather than isolating symptoms. It's also the required first step before bodywork.

How long is a kinesiology session?

60 minutes, in person or online. That allows time for intake, muscle monitoring, corrections and integration. Shorter sessions lose depth.

What happens during a session?

As a rough guide: 0–10 minutes, intake and movement assessment. 10–30 minutes, muscle monitoring and energy assessment using gentle pressure tests on key muscles. 30–55 minutes, corrections (acupressure, meridian balancing, Bach Flower essences, nutritional support if indicated, or emotional release work). 55–60 minutes, integration and next steps. You stay fully clothed throughout.

Is kinesiology suitable if I feel very sensitive or overwhelmed?

Yes. We talk about trauma history at intake and adjust the pace to suit you. The work is fully clothed and non-invasive, and you can stop at any moment. Safety is the foundation, not an afterthought.

Will I need to talk about personal or emotional topics?

No. A short check-in helps guide the session, but there's no expectation to share personal details or talk about trauma. Your body communicates through muscle feedback, energy responses and physical signals. You're welcome to stay quiet throughout.

How is kinesiology different from counselling or massage?

Counselling works through talking and processing. Massage relaxes soft tissue. Kinesiology uses muscle testing as indicative feedback to find patterns across physical, emotional and energetic layers at once. It picks up where both of those stop.

Is kinesiology required before bodywork?

Yes. At least two kinesiology sessions are needed before any bodywork booking. They establish your nervous system baselines, build trust, and show which bodywork approach suits your readiness. No exceptions.

Does the $190 fee include energy work?

Kinesiology and energy work are booked as separate sessions at $190 each, although kinesiology sessions often include some energy techniques naturally. The 3 Body Solution combines both with bodywork at a discount. Pricing is the same in person and online.

03

Energy work

About energy work
What can energy work help with?

Energy work is commonly used to support nervous system regulation, emotional balance, stress, fatigue, and a sense of feeling disconnected or overwhelmed. People often come for stress, anxiety, energetic depletion, disrupted sleep and emotional overwhelm, or to support the nervous system alongside bodywork. It's complete on its own, and works in harmony with kinesiology and bodywork.

How long is an energy work session?

60 minutes, in person or online. That allows time for assessment, the energy work itself, and integration.

Is energy work the same as Reiki?

The intent is similar (energy balancing) but the method is different. The energy work here draws on Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian theory and biofield modulation rather than a Reiki lineage, and sessions are intuitively guided rather than formulaic.

How does energy work differ from kinesiology?

Kinesiology uses muscle testing to find and correct imbalances, working mainly through the body's physical feedback. Energy work is guided intuitively through the meridians and biofield, focusing on the emotional and energetic layer. Each is complete on its own, and they complement each other well.

How often should I have energy work?

It depends on your needs and your nervous system's capacity. For acute stress or a specific goal, weekly sessions for 2–3 weeks work well. For ongoing regulation, monthly to six-monthly sessions keep the momentum. Some clients book one-off sessions between bodywork appointments. There's no fixed protocol.

What does it cost, and can I combine it with other modalities?

Energy work is $190 for 60 minutes, in person or online. Book it on its own or combine it with kinesiology and bodywork; the 3 Body Solution ($900) includes all three. Many clients start with energy work, especially if they're sensitive to touch or new to somatic work.

04

Bodywork

About bodywork
What can bodywork help with?

Bodywork works with pelvic floor tension, hip restrictions and stored birth, grief and trauma patterns. Clients often describe easing of long-held tension in the lower back and hips, steadier emotions, and less anxiety held in the body. Sessions support the whole system rather than targeting a single symptom.

How long is a bodywork session?

4–5 hours. The extended time lets your nervous system complete its release cycles rather than being interrupted halfway. You won't receive constant touch: integration periods and water breaks are built in.

Is bodywork suitable if I feel sensitive or overwhelmed?

Yes, with proper screening. At the pre-brief we look at trauma history, any tendency to dissociate, and your nervous system's capacity. Bodywork is external only and clothed and/or draped, which makes it accessible if you're new to somatic work.

Will I need to talk or share personal details?

Only if you choose to. Earlier kinesiology sessions often reveal emotional patterns without you needing to say anything. During bodywork, check-ins happen every 45–60 minutes. You're invited to share, never pressured.

How is bodywork different from massage or counselling?

Massage relaxes soft tissue at the surface. Counselling works through talking and processing. Bodywork releases deep patterns held in the fascia, pelvic floor and hips, where emotions are held physically. Extended sessions allow complete release cycles, the Connection Ritual opens every session, and a strict consent framework runs throughout.

What is the Connection Ritual?

A 45–60 minute opening at every bodywork session: grounding, intention-setting, consent reaffirmation, breath synchronisation, sacred space declaration and opening touch (non-genital). It's a trauma-informed protocol that tells your nervous system: "You're safe here. You're not being rushed."

Is bodywork sexual?

No. Therapeutic touch is fundamentally different from sexual activity. The work involves consensual, non-sexual touch to the external genital area for somatic therapeutic purposes. Boundaries are firm: no kissing, no erotic role-play, and sexual stimulation is never the goal. Touch is only applied with your explicit verbal permission at each stage, and you can stop at any moment without question. Currently only external work is offered, clothed and/or draped.

Why do sessions run 4–5 hours?

Nervous system release follows natural cycles, not the clock. An extended session allows grounding (30–60 min), progressive tissue work (1–2 hr), an emotional release window (2–3 hr) and integration (1–2 hr). Rushing risks re-traumatising or leaving things half-processed. You control the pace throughout.

What if something feels uncomfortable during a session?

We stop immediately, no justification needed. Say "pause", "stop" or communicate it in any way we agreed beforehand, and it's honoured without debate. Over a long session there are frequent check-ins (about every 45–60 minutes) to make sure consent is ongoing.

What screening happens before bodywork is booked?

Every client completes: (1) a 45–60 minute pre-brief call covering medical history, trauma background and boundaries; (2) written consent documentation setting out the exact protocols; and (3) at least two kinesiology sessions to establish trust and a baseline.

Packages & pricing

The 3 Body Solution
What is the 3 Body Solution?

One session of each modality, kinesiology, energy work and bodywork, combined into a single integration process. Each works on its own layer, physical, emotional and spiritual, and together they work in harmony. It's for people ready for deep, multi-layered change, and it's $900 (saving $50 on booking separately).

How much does each session cost?

Kinesiology: $190 (60 min). Energy work: $190 (60 min). Bodywork: $570 (4–5 hours). 3 Body Solution: $900 (all three). Pricing is the same in person and online. The 20-minute discovery call and the 45–60 minute pre-brief consultation are free.

Do I have to buy the package?

No. Every modality can be booked on its own. The package is for people committed to the full integration process. Many clients start with kinesiology and decide from there.

Do you offer payment plans?

For the 3 Body Solution, yes: $450 at your first session and $450 at your bodywork session, with no interest or fees. Need a different arrangement? Get in touch.

I've already had kinesiology with Phil. Do I still need the package?

If you've had two or more kinesiology sessions, you've already met the bodywork requirement. You might prefer to book energy work and bodywork individually, or we can put together a custom arrangement.

Are there any hidden costs?

No. All pricing is listed on this site. The only extra cost is a second kinesiology session before bodywork if you haven't had one (the package includes one; bodywork needs two), at $190. Discovery calls, pre-brief consultations and consent documentation are free. If you'd like me to come to you, travel is at your expense, agreed in advance.

Online sessions

Which modalities are available online?

Kinesiology and energy work are both available online, worldwide. Only bodywork needs you in person, because of the physical nature of therapeutic touch. Distance does not diminish efficacy for energy work or kinesiology.

How does online kinesiology work?

Remote kinesiology uses surrogate muscle testing (I test on your behalf) or guided self-monitoring (you do simple checks while I guide you and read the responses). Both give the same biofeedback as an in-person session. You'll need a quiet space, a device with video, and to be able to follow simple movement instructions. Same 60 minutes, same $190.

How does online energy work work?

Energy work operates on the biofield, so distance is not a barrier. Online sessions use the same protocols over video call: meridian tracing, chakra balancing, biofield modulation and guided breathwork. Same 60 minutes, same $190.

Can online kinesiology count towards the bodywork requirement?

Yes. Online sessions count towards the two kinesiology sessions needed before bodywork, as long as at least one in-person session happens before the bodywork date to confirm baseline readings.
