The Physical Body

Kinesiology: your physical body's pattern recognition system.

Precision muscle monitoring identifies stored or blocked emotions and releases them through PKP techniques. This is the rational, analytical layer, revealing what's disrupting your system through measurable biofeedback.

Most clients start here. Each session is complete in itself, and it can also show whether energy work or bodywork would support you further. Combined, all three become the 3 Body Solution.

At a glance

Kinesiology uses gentle muscle monitoring as biofeedback to find where stress is held in your body, then releases it with Professional Kinesiology Practice (PKP) techniques. It is complete on its own and works in harmony with energy work and bodywork.

About kinesiology

A body-led approach to stress, pain and emotional load.

Kinesiology sessions gently explore how your body responds to stress, physically, emotionally and energetically. Using muscle feedback, we identify tension and imbalance and support the patterns linked to pain, anxiety and fatigue in a sustainable way.

Think of it as a pattern map for your nervous system: precise information that guides each correction, and your healing plan from there. Each session works with what your body is ready for, restoring communication between mind and body for lasting balance.

What clients often notice

  • Less chronic tension or pain
  • Better sleep and faster recovery
  • Less anxiety or emotional reactivity
  • More clarity, and an easier time making decisions

The foundation for bodywork

Kinesiology is the foundation of every healing plan at DNA Kinesiology. It's also the required first step before bodywork: it establishes your nervous system baselines, builds trust, and shows which bodywork approach suits your readiness. At least two kinesiology sessions are needed before any bodywork booking.

What to expect

Your body sets the order, not a textbook.

01

Body-led assessments

Each session follows your body's muscle feedback rather than a fixed protocol. Stress patterns and imbalances are addressed in the order your nervous system sets.

02

Non-invasive, consent-first, works remotely

You stay fully clothed. No force, and no pressure to share. Comfort and consent are checked out loud at each stage. Available in person or online through surrogate testing and guided self-monitoring, with the same pattern mapping precision.

03

A blueprint for bodywork

These sessions map your unique patterns, creating the foundation that shows whether bodywork is appropriate and which approach to begin with. Every bodywork journey starts here.

Techniques

The tools I draw on

No two sessions look the same. Your body's feedback decides which of these we use, and when.

  • Muscle monitoring
  • PKP techniques
  • Acupressure points
  • Meridian balancing
  • Bach Flower essences
  • Homeopathic test kits
  • ESR
  • Tuning forks and sound
  • Emotional release work
  • And more

Is this right for you?

A calm, supportive space to reconnect with your body.

Kinesiology is for people who want to take an active part in their healing rather than hand their power to someone else. It suits people who are curious about their body's signals, open to slowing down, and willing to explore what sits beneath surface symptoms.

It may not be the right fit if you're looking for a quick fix, a purely physical treatment, or someone to take control for you.

Session timeline

What to expect from a kinesiology session

A general guide. Timings vary with what each person needs.

  1. 0–10 min

    Intake and movement assessment

We go over your goals and current challenges, and look at your baseline movement patterns. Nothing is rushed or skipped.

  2. 10–30 min

    Muscle monitoring and energy assessment

Gentle, controlled pressure tests on key muscles show where imbalances sit, physically and energetically. A pattern map for your nervous system.

  3. 30–55 min

    Corrective techniques

Depending on what comes up: acupressure points, meridian balancing, Bach Flower essences, nutritional support (if indicated) or emotional release work. You stay fully clothed and in control throughout.

  4. 55–60 min

    Integration and next steps

We talk through what shifted, what to expect over the next 48–72 hours, and whether follow-up work would help.

Online kinesiology

How it works online

Remote sessions use surrogate muscle testing (I test on your behalf) or guided self-monitoring (you do simple checks while I guide you and read the responses). Both give the same biofeedback as an in-person session.

The session is still 60 minutes. In the middle section you're guided through simple checks over video, or surrogate testing is used. Corrections are guided out loud: you apply acupressure points yourself, and energy techniques are directed remotely. Same depth, same outcomes, same price ($190).

Online is ideal if you

  • Live a long way from where I'm practising
  • Have limited mobility, or fatigue
  • Are travelling or relocating
  • Want continuity of care between in-person visits

Online sessions count towards the two kinesiology sessions needed before bodywork, as long as at least one in-person session happens before the bodywork date to confirm baseline readings.

"I attended kinesiology sessions with Phil Duval for relief from chronic migraine. I have had three sessions with Phil and all have been positively life changing. After the first two, in person sessions, I enjoyed more energy, improved self confidence, and improved diet. The third session was conducted online, and to be honest, I was initially unsure how effective it would be. However, the online session was just as powerful! And I have not experienced any migraines since! I have found Phil to be a kind, gentle, and caring practitioner. He brings compassion and respect to his work. I would highly recommend Phil as a healer who offers clients a supportive and safe therapeutic space."

In clients' words

After a kinesiology session

J.
"I have had more than 5 balances with Phil. He is professional, reassuring and extremely supportive. I have been able to see positive results over a range of issues and always leave feeling lighter and calmer."
Susie D.
"…just wanted to say thank you for the treatment Thursday I feel amazing, so clear and calm. Yesterday just powered through the day at work, better than I have for months."
Andi
"Thank you so much for today, I feel way more in my body and taller!….. Feeling much better than I did before I saw you. Thank you for being amazing!!"

Kinesiology questions

Good to know

What can kinesiology help with?

Kinesiology is commonly used to support stress regulation, anxiety, fatigue, chronic pain, emotional overwhelm, burnout and a sense of feeling stuck. Sessions focus on how your nervous system and body are responding rather than isolating symptoms. It's also the required first step before bodywork.

How long is a kinesiology session?

60 minutes, in person or online. That allows time for intake, muscle monitoring, corrections and integration. Shorter sessions lose depth.

Is kinesiology suitable if I feel very sensitive or overwhelmed?

Yes. We talk about trauma history at intake and adjust the pace to suit you. The work is fully clothed and non-invasive, and you can stop at any moment. Safety is the foundation, not an afterthought.

Will I need to talk about personal or emotional topics?

No. A short check-in helps guide the session, but there's no expectation to share personal details or talk about trauma. Your body communicates through muscle feedback, energy responses and physical signals, not through the story you tell. You're welcome to stay quiet throughout.

How is kinesiology different from counselling or massage?

Counselling works through talking and processing. Massage relaxes soft tissue. Kinesiology uses muscle testing as indicative feedback to find patterns across physical, emotional and energetic layers at once. It picks up where both of those stop.

Is kinesiology required before bodywork?

Yes. At least two kinesiology sessions are needed before any bodywork booking. They establish your nervous system baselines, build trust, and show which bodywork approach suits your readiness. No exceptions.

Can kinesiology show whether I need bodywork?

Often, yes. Muscle monitoring frequently shows pelvic floor tension, hip restrictions or emotional holding that point towards bodywork as a next step. The decision is always shared: you choose if and when to go ahead.

Does the $190 fee include energy work?

Kinesiology and energy work are booked as separate sessions at $190 each, although kinesiology sessions often include some energy techniques naturally. The 3 Body Solution combines both with bodywork at a discount. Pricing is the same in person and online.

Can kinesiology sessions be done online?

Yes. Remote kinesiology uses surrogate muscle testing or guided self-monitoring to get the same biofeedback as in person. You'll need a quiet space, a device with video, and to be able to follow simple movement instructions. Same 60 minutes, same $190. Online sessions count towards the bodywork requirement, as long as at least one in-person session happens before the bodywork date.

Please note

Kinesiology, energy work and bodywork are complementary therapies. They don't diagnose or treat medical conditions and aren't a substitute for medical care. Please keep up any existing treatment, and let your healthcare providers know about the work you're doing.
